Burckhardt Compression Decarbonizes US Operations

1 minute(s) Read

Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. has signed a four-year renewable energy agreement with ENGIE to decarbonize operations at all its locations nationwide. The company will purchase the equivalent of 4,656,000 kWh of renewable energy, saving 1941 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

The emissions reductions of the ENGIE agreement are guaranteed by renewable energy attribute certificates, which are issued to producers for every 1 MW/h of clean power it supplies to the grid. Companies can purchase these certificates as energy credits, offsetting power consumption and emissions from other sources. This allows businesses to make contributions to the global energy transition by decarbonizing operations. All renewable energy sources are traceable, with Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. purchasing 100% clean power from the 300-MW capacity Priddy Wind Farm in Texas.

“We welcome this agreement as another step toward our sustainability targets,” said Rob Leger, director of quality, environment, occupational health and safety at Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. “Our purpose is to provide compression solutions for a sustainable energy future, and we have committed to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 50% in 2027 compared to 2021.”
