Tecnimont Private Ltd., Paradeep Municipality, and the National Institute of Technology of Karnataka Surathkal broke ground on a one-ton biogas plant in Paradeep, India. The plant is part of a project that aims to set up a small-scale facility to produce biogas using food and vegetable waste as feedstock. Segregated waste from municipal jurisdictions will be collected and treated at the new plant to produce compressed biogas which will be supplied back to the community and be used as cooking gas, promoting a sustainable energy ecosystem.

The new plant is expected to begin operations in 2026.
