The Board of Directors of Atlas Copco AB has appointed Vagner Rego as president and chief executive officer of Atlas Copco Group, effective May 1, 2024.
Rego, currently senior executive vice president and president of the compressor technique business area, joined Atlas Copco in 1996 as a trainee engineer. In 2006, he was appointed to business line manager for compressor technique service in Brazil and in 2010, he became vice president of marketing and sales for the compressor technique service division, based in Belgium. He has also been general manager for Power Technique’s customer center in Brazil. Before he took on his current position in 2017, he was president for the compressor technique service division.
Rego has a degree in mechanical engineering from Mackenzie University and an MBA from Ibmec Business School.
Atlas Copco Group has also appointed Philippe Ernens as president of the compressor technique business and a member of group management, effective May 1, 2024. Ernens is currently president of the oil-free air division within Compressor Technique.
Ernens started as a product engineer in the Airtec division within the Compressor Technique business area in 1995. After several positions as team leader and engineering manager, he became general manager and continued to a role as vice president of operations – high pressure. In 2012, he became president of the Airtec division and in 2016 he took up the position as president for the oil-free air division.
Ernens holds a degree in electromechanical engineering from the University of Liege, Belgium. He will be based in Antwerp, Belgium.
