Baker Hughes will supply an LM9000 gas turbine and compression technology to Commonwealth LNG for the company’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility under development in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.
Commonwealth LNG is an 9.3-mtpa nameplate (9.5-mtpa permitted) LNG liquefaction and export facility located on the west bank of the Calcasieu Ship Channel at the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico near Cameron, Louisiana. The facility will have six 50,000-m3 modular storage tanks and will be able to accommodate vessels up to 216,000 m3. Gas supply is achieved with the addition of a 3-mile pipeline interconnected to two major pipeline systems with significant excess transportation capacity.
Baker Hughes will also provide services and software in support of the project, including spare parts and maintenance services.
Commonwealth LNG received FERC authorization on November 17, 2022. Preliminary site work began in the second half of 2023, with commercial operations to begin in 2027.
