After four years of successful cooperation as an authorized service partner of Burckhardt Compression, SPAN Maintenance and Service Co. Ltd. (SPAN) in Rayong, Thailand, will be incorporated into the newly established subsidiary Burckhardt Compression (Thailand) Co. Ltd.
“Having worked with SPAN for several years as our authorized service partner in the refurbishment of compressor valves, we saw the high potential to expand our own service network for our customers in Thailand and to offer a much bigger service portfolio,” said Patrick Chong, vice president of Asia-Pacific, Services Division at Burckhardt Compression. “SPAN has a qualified team to execute maintenance work on compressors and rotating equipment. Pairing their knowledge with the experience and expertise of Burckhardt Compression will bring the service portfolio in Thailand to the next level.”
SPAN has been serving customers in Thailand since 2015. The cooperation between Burckhardt Compression and SPAN has been in place since 2018. All business previously handled by SPAN, and the related customers, will be served by Burckhardt Compression Thailand. The new subsidiary will provide spare parts, sales and marketing support, localized field service for of all makes and models of reciprocating compressors, component repair, and technical support.
“Currently, we have 30 employees including five field-service teams capable of handling simultaneous on-site interventions,” said Chong. “We plan to increase our capacities and transfer more capabilities/knowledge to be able to handle high-pressure component refurbishments. In the future, we will build up project management capabilities to handle complex engineering revamps and turnkey projects.”
Chong recognizes the importance of the region and the opportunities it presents.
“South-East Asia is the fastest growing region in the world. There is certainly an increasing demand from this market for state-of-the-art equipment like our compressors,” said Chong. “The service for compressors should be provided locally to offer not only fast, but also a one-stop-shop experience. Burckhardt Compression can meet these expectations with its expertise in equipment design and decades of experience in service solutions. We want to strengthen the local presence for our customers.
