Blackjack Creek Wind Farm Begins Construction

50 Nordex turbines For 240-MW Project In South Texas

Construction has begun on Blackjack Creek Wind Farm (Blackjack Creek), a 240-MW onshore wind farm located in Bee and Refugio counties, Texas. The RWE Renewables project is expected to be online in late 2021.

“Blackjack Creek Wind Farm significantly expands our portfolio of onshore projects in the United States, one of our focus markets,” said Silvia Ortin, COO Onshore Wind and Solar PV Americas at RWE Renewables. “We’re building a balance of wind, solar, and storage resources, helping us deliver on our net capacity clean energy targets.”

RWE Renewables has onshore and offshore wind farms, photovoltaic plants, and battery storage facilities in more than 20 countries on five continents. From 2020 until 2022, RWE Renewables plans to invest €5 billion net in renewable energy and to grow its renewables portfolio to 13 gigawatts of net capacity.

Blackjack Creek will be powered by 50 Nordex turbines and will generate enough electricity to power more than 72,000 homes.
